Eric volunteered to document the work of Marimed – a group of doctors and nurses bringing primary care to post-quake Haiti – to help with its fundraising. Before traveling there he organized and cooked a benefit dinner to raise $5000 for its mission.

The American Photographer's Association chose five of Eric's photographs from this series – the most of any photographer – to present at the 2010 “Something Personal” show in San Francisco.

After Chad Robertson perfected his bread baking technique over nearly two decades, he wanted to teach it to others.

At the time, Eric was one of only three apprentices who had worked long enough with Chad to master his complex and intuitive approach.

Their idea was to distill the content of daily discussions into steps for making Chad's technique accessible to everyone. They would also cook the food they love to eat and share the recipes.

The New York Times calls their collaboration “the most beautiful bread book
yet published.”
